The Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard has reported a tragic incident where a jubilant soldier, celebrating his birthday at a relaxation center, accidentally shot and killed a villager.
According to the council’s chairman, Farmasum Fuddang, the soldier was firing random shots during the celebration, leading to the fatal shooting of a passerby on Monday evening.
Instead of acknowledging the accidental discharge, the soldier labeled the victim and residents who tried to save him as militants, sparking outrage in the community.

The council strongly condemns the soldier’s attempt to cover up the incident and calls for swift action by military and state authorities to apprehend and prosecute the responsible personnel. Additionally, they demand the immediate release of those arrested for attempting to rescue the victim.
While the military assures that the matter is under investigation, the Plateau State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Philemon Daffi, stated that his office is yet to receive a formal complaint from the council.
