Turkish Airlines is in advanced talks with Boeing to purchase 225 aircraft, a move that would significantly expand its fleet and cement its position as a major global carrier. The deal, announced at the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Annual General Meeting, includes 150 MAX narrow-body aircraft and 75 Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft.
Turkish Airlines has experienced rapid growth over the past two decades, expanding its fleet 6.7 times and reporting consistent profits. The airline aims to double its fleet size to 810 aircraft within the next ten years, driven by its ambition to become a leading global player.
While the deal with Boeing is pending, Turkish Airlines has already made a significant commitment to European manufacturer Airbus, with an order for 385 aircraft. The airline’s fleet expansion strategy is designed to mitigate risk and ensure long-term sustainability.
With a strong track record of growth and a commitment to fleet expansion, Turkish Airlines is poised for continued success in the highly competitive global aviation market.
