Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Ondo State Governor, has conveyed a letter of extending his medical leave to the State House of Assembly.

This notice had come after his medical practitioners had cautioned on the need to take adequate rest after convalescing.

Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker for the Ondo State House of Assembly who received the letter on behalf of the other lawmakers, had stated that the Governor’s decision was in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Section 190, (as amended).

According to the Governor’s wishes his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa would keep acting as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary is made.

Recall that Governor Akeredolu had in a letter dated June 5, 2023, originally informed the State House of Assembly of his decision to proceed on medical leave and had been expected to resume on July 6, 2023.

The new date for Akeredolu’s resumption had not been communicated at the time this report was made.
