The Nigerian political space has apparently begun preparations for the 2027 elections, going by a campaign poster showing making rounds on X (formerly Twitter), of Bukola Saraki campaigning as the presidential candidate of an unknown party.
The poster had shown Saraki as the presidential candidate and Peter Obi as his running mate and it read; “Let’s restore our country back, come 2027.”
Note that Saraki had been a former Senate President and now a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, while Obi is a member of the Labour Party, LP.
Peter Obi had defected from the PDP to the LP during the build-up to the keenly contested 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
Despite the emergence of this campaign poster, both Saraki and Obi are yet to officially declare any intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.
The genuineness of the poster cannot be confirmed at the time of filing this report.
