It was a sad one for the Golden Eaglets- as they crashed out of the U-17 AFCON after they were defeated 2-1 by Burkina Faso, dashing their dreams of qualifying for the U-17 World Cup.
However, Super Eagles defender and 2013 AFCON winner Kenneth Omeruo has advised the Nigerian Football Federation not to abandon the boys.
According to him, considering the effort they put into the competition it’s sad to see him go and not qualify for the world cup.
He further said there are so many talents inside the team, and he sincerely hopes that the boys are not abandoned and their talents are utilized for them to unleash their highest potential
“It was sad not to see these boys progress to the next stage and also to the World Cup,” Omeruo posted on his official Instagram account.
So many bright talents in this team, I just hope they are not abandoned. I hope they are encouraged in defeat as well. I know for sure a lot of them will play to their highest potential,” he added.
However, the coach of the U-17 team has assured that they’ll be trained to fill in the shoes of the Super Eagles when needed.
