As the day begins to set, the Edo election is coming to a close, and several polling booths are beginning to report their results. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 4.5% of the results from the ongoing Edo State governorship election onto its Result Viewing Portal (IREV).
Reports indicate that 205 out of 4,519 polling units in the state have successfully submitted their results, allowing for public viewing of the election outcomes.
The Edo electoral process has been relatively peaceful, contrary to earlier concerns. Aside from delays in the delivery of electoral materials to polling centers, there has been a significant turnout of voters in this year’s election.
Despite results being reported from various polling units, voting continues as the state’s 2.2 million registered voters make their choice for the next governor.
The Edo State election features 17 candidates, but the main competition lies between the PDP, APC, and LP. Results from numerous polling units support this dynamic. Currently, the PDP appears to be in the lead, closely followed by the APC and the LP..
