Dr. Oliver Agundu, Plateau’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), has announced that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold Presidential and National Assembly elections on Sunday in selected portions of the state’s Kanam Local Government Area.
Agundu spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after touring Jos and other parts of the state to assess the current situation.
He further stated that voting in various polling units in Jos North, Jos South, and Mangu local government areas were still ongoing.
The REC explained that voting hours were often extended to allow registered voters to carry out their civic duties.
He ascribed the late start of voting in most locations to technical difficulties experienced throughout the exercise.
