The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration had modified a ban on U.S. airlines operating in the Caribbean nation of Haiti on Wednesday, issuing a notice which allows flights over northern parts of the country, including the city of Cap-Haitien.
Recall that the FAA had barred flights over the entire Haitian territory the previous week after three commercial jetliners were hit by gunfire as armed gangs increased their attacks in and around the capital Port-au-Prince.
The ban on U.S. flights into Haiti had stranded American citizens and the increase in gang violence in the territory meant that some seaports were closed as well.
