At least four workers have been confirmed dead in a fire outbreak that razed a lounge and bar located on Baale Road, Olodi Apapa, Lagos State, in the early hours of Sunday, October 13th, 2024. The fire, which started around 7:45 am, engulfed the entire structure of the building as the victims were burnt beyond recognition.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who said there was a distress call that came at about 7:50 am, about some minutes after the fire had begun. Firefighters and police immediately rushed to the scene and after an uneasy struggle, the fire was finally put under control.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, pending an investigation. Meanwhile, remains of the four unidentified victims have been evacuated to the IDH (Infectious Disease Hospital) morgue at Yaba. Further information on the cause of the fire will be provided in the next few days as the community mourns this tragic loss.
