The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved a total budget of N615.86 billion as 2025 Appropriation Bills come into law within the state. Originally, the budget was N584.76 billion when it was presented on December 9, 2024. After careful review, the State Assembly increased it by N31 billion and passed it on December 24.

On Monday, at a brief signing event in the Council Chamber of the Government House, Governor Zulum reiterated his promise to complete all the remaining projects he pledged during his 2023 election campaign. He stressed that 2025 is a very important year for keeping his administration’s promises and urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to follow the budget rules carefully when submitting their plans for approval.

The governor appreciated the leaders and members of the Borno State House of Assembly for the prompt passage of the budget. He commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, and the lawmakers for working together, saying that the state’s progress wouldn’t have happened without their help.

In response, Speaker Lawan praised the governor’s leadership and pointed out the many development projects carried out across the state in the last six years. He said the budget was increased to include more important projects that would help improve the lives of the people.
