Manchester City turned in a powerful performance to beat Liverpool 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland adding his 99th Premier League goal to set Pep Guardiola’s team on their way. Liverpool’s miserable league away streak reached four consecutive losses with this game, their worst since 2012.
The team of the Etihad, who have now won nine of their last ten home league games, took the reins from the beginning. Giorgi Mamardashvili at first rescued City by giving them a penalty opportunity after he fouled Jérémy Doku, however, the goalkeeper saved the situation by stopping Haaland’s penalty kick. It took the Norwegian 29 minutes to score, as he converted Matheus Nunes’ accurate cross with a header on.

Liverpool scored through Virgil Van Dijk brfore half time but was chopped off by VAR as Andrew Robertson deemed offside in the buildup. City made it 3-0 very soon after the interruption when the ball hit Van Dijk on the volley from a driven shot by Nico González and went past Mamardashvili.
The visitors had a short spell of pressure after the break, but Doku put the game beyond doubt with a fantastic curling shot to end his great display. City’s seventh win in eight games takes them to within four points of league leaders Arsenal, while Liverpool have dropped to eighth as their domestic struggles continue.
