The headies award has in a statement published on their social media pages ordered the fast-rising musician, Portable, to retract the video he made inciting violence.
Portable had made a video on the 25th of May, after being nominated by the headies in two categories, stating that he would kill the other nominees if he was not given the award. He had also threatened to disrupt the peace of the awards if the award was given to someone else.
The Headies has however disassociated themselves from every “form of violence, abuse, threat or intimidation” from any artiste. They have also condemned the video and have ordered the immediate removal of the video by Portable.
Apart from criticizing his unruly behavior and statements, the headies has reported him to the Nigerian police force to invite him to give an undertaken that he would not be causing any harm to any of the nominees or disrupting the peace of the event.
They also stated that if he did not give in to their demands and apologize for his actions within the next 24 hours, he would be disqualified and legal proceedings would be undertaken.
