The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC, has formally resumed it’s oil exploration in the Lake Chad Basin in Tuba community, Jere LGA of Borno State.
According to the official NNPC Limited Twitter page, this remobilisation of the drilling rig to Lake Chad Basin is coming since it stopped its activities in the 1980s.
Mele Kyari, the Group CEO of NNPC Ltd in his opening Statement at the Presidential Flag-off of Wadi-B Drilling Campaign in Borno State had said:
“The re-mobilization of a drilling rig to the Chad Basin for the first time since efforts had been made in the 1980s goes to show the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President Buhari, and today, we are delighted to have him bring back the hydrocarbon exploration activities to the Lake Chad Basin.”
