It seems like we blinked and September flew by, with the Big 4 Fashion Weeks close on its heels.
If you didn’t know it before, know it now, Schiaparelli has fully established itself as a brand well known for its bold and unconventional designs and now, under the creative directorship of Daniel Roseberry, the designer brand has evolved uniquely.
This was seen in the Spring/Summer SS25 collection where the designs seen on the runway gave off a more casual vibe than I was used to seeing from Schiaparelli. There was less extravagance and more of what you might see a very fashionable person wearing for an event a.k.a ready-to-wear fashion.
The collection, aptly named ‘Future Vintage’ was dedicated to the ‘daughters and granddaughters’ of its brand’s clients and it featured several exceptional pieces that I loved and they include:
1. Tailored Jackets with Overstated Shoulders:
These jackets seen on the runway were made from stylish fabrics (velvet, silk and brocade) and they featured dramatically exaggerated shoulders that created a bold and powerful silhouette on the models. I also noticed that they came in a variety of colors from the classic black and white, to rich hues and metallic shades.
2. Fluid Gowns in Different Fabrics:
Gowns that draped over the body like another skin were a highlight, even though they were made from different fabrics including silk, chiffon, and satin. The gowns also came in floor-length dresses, knee-length and asymmetrical cuts.
Several gowns were embellished with embroidery, beading, and appliqué and were designed to be wearable for both formal events and more casual vibe.
3. Corseted White Tank Top and Low-Rise Jeans:
The white tank top featured a built-in corset, which provided structure and laid emphasis on the waist, creating an hourglass silhouette.
The unique fact about the top is that it could be paired with various bottoms, making it a versatile addition to any fashionista’s wardrobe. The jeans on the other hand features a low-rise waist –a nod to early 2000s fashion, which has been making a comeback.
4. Striped Knits with Trompe-l’oeil Sarong Print:
The Striped Knits with Trompe-l’oeil Sarong Print designs from the Schiaparelli Spring/Summer 2025 collection were inspired by both traditional craftsmanship and modern optical illusions.
In French, the term “trompe-l’oeil” means “deceive the eye” and this artistic technique creates the illusion of three-dimensional objects on a flat surface.
The color palette for these pieces were vibrant and neutral tones that further emphasized the optical illusion.
5. Hourglass Tailoring in Animal Prints:
The collection featured a variety of animal prints, including leopard, zebra, and snake patterns and it was obviously inspired by the beauty and power of nature. This theme did not come as a surprise as Schiaparelli has a history of getting inspiration for its designs from nature.
5. Secret Bag:
The Secret Bag is a classic Schiaparelli design that is always updated each season. For the SS25 collection, the Secret Bags were re-interpreted in a variety of vivid colors.
The bags were made from high-quality materials and the collection included different sizes of the Secret Bag, from big, statement pieces to mini, cute versions.
Fun Fact: The Secret Bags have been spotted on numerous celebrities, making them a fan favorite among fashion icons.
Standout Accessories:
- Oversized, sculptural earrings.
- Bold statement necklaces with large, irregularly shaped pendants.
- Long, opera-style gloves made from satin and leather.
- Sunglasses with bold, unconventional frames.
- Wide belts and embellished buckles were majorly featured in this collection.
- Shoes with sculptural heels and decorated boots.
