Rio Ferdinand Calls for Patience with Benjamin Šeško

Rio Ferdinand, the former player of Manchester United, has urged patience with Benjamin Šeško and stated that the £74 million summer signing will have to take his time to adjust to the Premier League.

The Slovenia international, 22, was well known for his achievements at RB Leipzig but has not yet managed to score or assist in his first four games for the Red Devils, in which his only start was off the bench. Meanwhile, the trio consisting of Hugo Ekitiké, Viktor Gyökeres and João Pedro has already fired, giving Šeško no respite to get rid of the mounting pressure.

However, in the opinion of Ferdinand, it is not the time to lash out. “He needs to first get to the standard of the Premier League and it’s going to take at least a month for him to be even considering that he’s in a good enough spot to lay down his best work,” he told the Daily Mail. “He is a little kid with amazing potential, but potential and actually doing it are two totally different things.”

French player Louis Saha, a former teammate, has also expressed his concern that Šeško might find it difficult this season with United’s shortage of midfield reinforcements.

The striker will surely be looking forward to the fixture against Manchester City at the Etihad this Sunday when he can prove his critics wrong.
