Arsenal informed the public that Saliba has committed to the club for the long term with reports of a new contract binding the French defender at the Emirates up to 2030.
It’s Saliba who moved to the Gunners from Saint-Étienne in 2019 and has since been the mainstay of Mikel Arteta’s defense, thus, to date, he has totalled 104 appearances in the Premier League and has been instrumental not only in the trophies but also in three second-place finishes consecutively.
The 24-year-old has been partly responsible that Arsenal have had the most sturdy defence in the division, as the number of goals they have conceded over the last two league campaigns is 63.
His high level of performance has been acknowledged even on the most demanding platforms, Saliba was selected in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament at Euro 2024 and also made it twice in a row in the PFA Team of the Season. Besides that, the 28-year-old French international is a player with whom France may count on as one of the most versatile defensive positions in Europe.
After signing the contract, Saliba said: “The atmosphere is great. We have a good squad, a great staff and a perfect coach for me. I love every day of it and I will give more to the club and the fans.”
Saliba, as a consequence of his continuation, might be chosen to perform in Olympiacos’ match at the Champions League on Wednesday.
