Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus and her former husband, filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan, have found themselves at the center of public attention once again, following a resurfaced interview from 2023.
In the clip, Damasus disclosed that she discovered the end of her marriage through a YouTube video, without any direct notice from her ex-husband.
Appearing on The Teju Babyface Show, the actress shared her shock at how she found out about the separation.
“A lot of things were said about me on YouTube because that is how I found out my marriage had ended. I didn’t know that my marriage had ended,” she recounted, noting that friends had called her urging her to check the platform for answers.
Her comments reignited public curiosity around the couple’s low-profile split and prompted a swift reaction from Ademinokan, who broke his silence via Instagram Stories.
In a series of posts, he disputed Stella’s claims and said he had initially chosen to stay silent “out of respect,” but could no longer stand by while what he described as “lies” circulated online.
To back his side of the story, he shared a screenshot of an email allegedly sent by Damasus on July 20, 2021, where she asked for an address to forward divorce papers.
Ademinokan added that his decision to leave the marriage wasn’t made lightly, citing personal well-being and his son’s safety as major factors. He further alleged that his son endured physical abuse during the marriage, claiming the boy once had to wear makeup to school to conceal injuries.
