A new decree has been passed by Afghanistan ruling militants; the Taliban, on Saturday the 7th of May, 2022.
This decree which was passed by the Taliban Ministry for the prevention of vice and promotion of virtue makes the women of Afghanistan to wear face veils (burqa) for the first time in 20 years in public.
In a news conference, Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the minister for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice calls on the world to co-operate with the Islamic Emirate and the people of Afghanistan. He further added that the world should not bother them or try to put pressure on them as they would not be affected by this.

Punishments have been laid out for not just the women but also their male guardians, which could include their brother, husband, or father, who could be jailed for three days or sent to court.
