The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, is safe, following reports that he was allegedly kidnapped during a livestream on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, said preliminary checks showed that the 20-year-old content creator was at home and unharmed.
“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that the person in question, Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, is at home safe and sound. His vehicle is also intact, all his phones and properties, nothing was missing,” Hundeyin stated.
He added that authorities are still reviewing the circumstances to determine whether it was a real kidnapping, a staged act, or simply a false alarm.
“That is what we are investigating. All his properties were intact, and there was no violence whatsoever,” the spokesperson added.
According to reports, the incident occurred while Peller was livestreaming on TikTok on his way home. In widely circulated footage, he appeared to mistake the armed men for security personnel before they allegedly took him away.
Peller, who first rose to fame in 2021 through TikTok videos and livestreams, has since broadened his brand to include streaming shows and events on Twitch.
