The deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress -ADC in Rivers state has turned out to be the controversial talented Nollywood actor, Tonto Dikeh. The news had made rounds on social media in June 2022, when she had announced her intention.

Tonto Dikeh has come out to contest elections in Rivers States, one of the states in Nigeria notorious for its tough politics and high-stakes elections. But the actress admitted that she was unbothered, adding that she had faith that her political party was capable of winning the 2023 governorship election as anything could happen.

When asked about her intentions when she clinched the ticket, Tonto revealed that her focus was to ensure ‘social protection’ for her state people.

Prior, to her newfound career as a politician, Tonto Dikeh had tried her hands at music at one time. Tonto Dikeh had admitted that she was controversial but that it was the media that had given her the controversial nickname.

Despite the numerous controversies surrounding her marriage and relationships in the past, Tonto had revealed that she would like to wed again in the future but it had to be with the correct person.

She had also announced that she was retiring from being an actress but that she would, however, keep supporting the entertainment industry if she won the elections.
