The Lagos State Police Command is investigating the death of Onyejekwe Izuchukwu, a businessman whose body was discovered in a hotel room in Ikoyi. Izuchukwu, aged 62, had been residing at the hotel since June 6, 2024. A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that a hotel cleaner found Izuchukwu deceased on the room’s floor during routine cleaning.
The hotel management was quickly notified, and the Chief Security Officer (CSO) promptly informed the police about the incident.
“Izuchukwu was a guest at the hotel since June 6, 2024, and was discovered dead on June 9, 2024, at around 7 pm by a cleaner. The hotel’s Assistant Chief Security Officer reported the death to the police. A doctor was called to examine him and confirmed his death.”
Before his unexpected death, Izuchukwu served as President of Bits and Drilling Tools, a division of Schlumberger, where he played a significant role in advancing drilling technologies in the oil and gas sector.
Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), affirmed that an investigation is currently in progress.
“Izuchukwu was found lifeless in the hotel room. A doctor confirmed his death, and his body has been taken to a morgue in Ikeja for an autopsy. The command has started an investigation into the matter.”
The police gave their assurance that they would uncover the case of his death.
