Why Anambra defeat could be a potential tip of the iceberg for APC

The All Progressives Congress’ troubles may not be over yet. Despite believing that the election would be a walkover, the party suffered a significant setback in Anambra State. While the APC mourns its defeat, the party could face defeats in two more state elections.

Andy Uba and his party believed that gaining power in Anambra would require the defection of major politicians, including Stella Oduah and the current deputy governor. They lost the election as a result of the outcome.

The All Progressives Congress is in danger of losing the state of Osun. The state of Osun will hold elections in 2022, but the party’s leadership in the state is in disarray. Most likely, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola will seek re-election for a second term in office. However, he has a grudge towards his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Interior minister.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola

They are working on parallel lines rather than cooperating, to the point that the Osun Progressives (which is loyal to Aregbesola) had a rival congress during the APC state congresses. Mr. Aregbesola used to work with Adegboyega Oyetola; things, on the other hand, are now in bad shape.

The People’s Democratic Party is making a comeback in the state, and the opposition is working hard to win the election. And if the PDP maintains its full powers as the APC struggles to get its house in order, the APC will almost certainly lose the next gubernatorial race.

Ekiti State will also have elections next year. It would have been incomparably easy for the APC in a normal situation. However, the absence of Mr. Kayode Fayemi from the ballot makes it more difficult. The APC’s ticket will further splinter the party’s ranks.

The South-West Agenda (SWAGA), which represents Bola Tinubu’s interests, has said unequivocally that the former Lagos State governor’s team will deliver Fayemi’s successor. This information was provided by Mr. Dayo Adeyeye. This will be the start of the APC’s demise in Ekiti State.

Mr. Dayo Adeyeye

Will Kayode Fayemi fold his hands if the APC candidate is presented by a faction? Of course, he’ll have to fight for his interests. And this will undoubtedly cause friction with Bola Tinubu’s loyalists. As a result, the APC is in danger of losing the Ekiti State election.
