Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress and billionaire politician’s wife, Regina Daniels, has finally addressed the long-debated topic of her daughter’s marriage to Ned Nwoko.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Rita disclosed that she never wanted her daughter, who was just 18 at the time, to marry a 60-year-old man.
She revealed that Regina made the decision on her own, despite her initial disapproval.
Rita recounted how, following the wedding, the public harshly criticized her, accusing her of forcing or “selling” her daughter into the marriage. However, she clarified that she was unaware of the relationship when it began and had no hand in influencing it.
“When Regina got married and the whole world blamed me, saying I forced her to marry a much older man or sold her to an elderly man, erm… What they didn’t know is that even I didn’t know when they started their relationship,” she said.
She added that she was actually the last to find out about Regina’s relationship with Ned Nwoko. Upon discovering it, she confronted her daughter to get answers, only to be shocked by Regina’s reaction.
According to Rita, that was the first time Regina spoke back to her harshly and refused to back down on her decision.
Despite her initial resistance, Rita said she later decided to stand by her daughter, realizing that as a mother, her duty was to support and guide her rather than reject her choices.
