The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign council has stated that the gaffes and blunders by its candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were simply minor issues and should not be amplified and overblown.
This was as the APC council remarked that it showed the unseriousness of certain Nigerians to pick on blunders and make them topical issues to talk about.
The APC campaign council Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, made this statement during an interview with PUNCH newspapers. He also added that the candidates of opposition parties committed their errors.
In the recent Tinubu Blunder, which occurred last week at an APC presidential rally in Lagos State, he had asked his followers to go and get their “APV” instead of the correct word, PVC, the short form of the Permanent Voters Card.
In a video that had trended online, he had said: “Do you love me? Do you love me? Go and take your APV…APC and you must vote,” Tinubu said.
But Onanuga, in Tinubu’s defense had said:
“What people call a gaffe here is incorrect. What’s the big deal in having someone who attempted to pronounce APC or PDP but ended up calling something else?”
“These are all minor slips and Tinubu has corrected himself on each occasion. Younger politicians like the PDP campaign spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, have slipped up too. Dino Melaye had also slipped up when he was urging the people of Borno to vote for the APC.” Onanuga finished.
