One Mr. Samuel Gbadamosi has been remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo state for having forceful carnal knowledge with his friend’s 16-year-old daughter, who according to Nigerian law is a minor.
According to the prosecutor, Augustine, Omehenemhen, the defendant raped the victim when she came to collect her textbook from his daughter, who is her friend, Obasekola street, Owo the Headquarters of Owo Local Government.
The defendant please not guilty to the charge, according to him the sex was consensual
“I did not force the girl, both of us agreed to have sex,” he said.
The Magistrate Judge adjourned the case, to April 27, 2023, and the defendant was ordered to be remanded till the case is heard.
The young lady raped is a minor, and cannot give consent, there’s no way a minor can go be consent to sex. The issues on rape cases in Nigeria are many, it’s as if the sentence being meted out to rapists is not enough to curtail this evil vice.
