Manchester City asserted their dominance with a commanding 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, keeping their pursuit of another Premier League title firmly within their grasp. Pep Guardiola’s side, now ominously just one point behind leaders Arsenal with a game in hand, showcased their prowess on the south coast, leaving Brighton reeling.

From the onset, City dictated the tempo, stifling Brighton’s early chances and seizing control of the match. Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring with a sublime diving header, expertly meeting Kyle Walker’s cross to find the top corner of the net. Phil Foden extended City’s lead with a heavily-deflected strike, before adding another with a clinical finish, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from the hosts.

Despite a couple of halftime substitutions from Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, City continued to dominate proceedings, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Julian Alvarez ended his Premier League goal drought with a composed finish into an empty net, further solidifying City’s lead.

Brighton’s frustrations mounted as they were denied a penalty after Joao Pedro appeared to be tripped in the box. However, City’s relentless attacking display ensured Brighton’s winless run extended to five matches, dampening their aspirations of climbing into European contention.

While City’s wide margin of victory bolstered their goal difference, they remain eight goals behind Arsenal. Nonetheless, with a flawless record in their remaining matches, City remain well-positioned to secure another Premier League title, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion to the season.
