Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has been remanded in custody until Monday, January 19, 2026, following his arraignment before an Ogun State High Court sitting in Onipanu, Ota.
The musician was brought before the court on Monday to face a nine-count charge, including allegations of stealing, assault, felony occasioning harm, and resisting arrest. Other charges were also filed in connection with the incident.
Portable appeared visibly distressed in court, reportedly breaking down in tears at intervals during the proceedings. He was accused of physically assaulting one of his wives, Ashabi Simple, as well as attacking police officers during the incident.

According to the prosecution, several other individuals were also assaulted on New Year’s Day at the singer’s Odogwu Bar, located in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State. Those named include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
The court was further told that Portable allegedly stole a Mercedes-Benz E300 with dealer number WAlly Dex Auto D/3 597 DOG, valued at ₦12 million, belonging to Ileyemi Damilola David.
The singer was said to have been arrested days after the incident, having reportedly evaded law enforcement following a clash involving his estranged partner, the mother of his two children, and her sibling on January 1.
Although Ashabi Simple was absent from court, two of her siblings, who claimed to be eyewitnesses to the alleged assault, were present during the hearing.
The prosecutor stated that the offences are punishable under Sections 516, 351, 383, 389, and 390 of the Ogun State Criminal Code Laws, 2006. It was also alleged that Portable and other suspects, who are still at large, used an axe to inflict injuries on Ileyemi Damilola.
In addition, the police accused the singer of obstructing and assaulting a female police officer, W/Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was performing her official duties.
Portable’s application for bail was not granted after the court noted the absence of the assaulted police officer. The presiding judge insisted on hearing directly from the officer before ruling on the bail request.
The case was subsequently adjourned, with the court ordering that Portable remain in custody until January 19, when his bail application will be considered.
