Governor Hope Uzodimma, speaking for the Progressives Governors Forum associated with the All Progressive Congress, has urged Nigerians to postpone their planned nationwide protest against the government headed by President Bola Tinubu. This protest was scheduled to take place from August 1 to 10.
After a private meeting with other governors in Abuja on Wednesday, the Forum’s leader and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, made this request. He said that now is not a good time for protests because Nigeria is facing problems like insecurity, low minimum wage, food shortages, and an economic downturn.
Governor Uzodimma showed concern that the protesters do not have clear goals, saying, “We don’t know what they are protesting for.” He advised people to avoid actions that could cause chaos or disorder, noting that the country is already dealing with a global economic downturn and security challenges.
