I’ve heard a lot of people say things like, ’I’m not the social media type’. If you are sitting under this umbrella, I LOVE to break it to you that nobody is the anything type .

When you were born, you definitely weren’t the walking type, but with time, you learnt and you’ve being doing that overtime.

Our world is a digital market and you don’t want to get left behind. Millions of people are selling their skills on various social media platforms, reading thousands and millions of audiences. Who said you can’t do that too?

The first step to doing this is to GROW YOUR ACCOUNT!

Whether it is Facebook, Instagram or Tiktok, your personal page or your business/brand page, this can be done simply with these steps:

  • 1. BE CONSISTENT:
  • 2. KNOW YOUR NICHE AND STICK TO IT:
  • 3. HAVE YOUR PAGE ORGANIZED:
  • POST WORTHY CONTENT ONLY:
  • MAKE USE OF HASHTAGS “#” :
  • MAKE YOUR BIO AS CONCISE AS POSSIBLE:
  • REMEMBER TO DROP YPUR CONTACT INFORMATION:
  • KEEP YOUR PAGE ACTIVE:

1. BE CONSISTENT:

You don’t want to post today and come back three weeks later to make another post. Your followers need to know that you are up and active, ready to give them content as they desire. In everything, consistency is key. It is also the most important rule in the game.

2. KNOW YOUR NICHE AND STICK TO IT:

If you’re a fashion designer or a fashion enthusiast, you’re going to gain followers that want that type of content. But if you begin to post about sports, you’ll confuse your audience and lose most of them and it’s only going to make your page look very scattered thereby chasing potential followers.

3. HAVE YOUR PAGE ORGANIZED:

Let’s use Instagram as an example, you want to arrange your feed and keep it looking as beautiful as possible. You want to keep them interested and glued to you.

POST WORTHY CONTENT ONLY:

You should really be certain that what you are posting is good enough to make it to your page. If it isn’t, there are other options like your story or not posting it at all. It may be well within your niche, but that doesn’t guarantee that it is worthy.

Your page should be like your portfolio and you only need to post the necessaries else you’re going to have a crowded play ground when you’re done.

MAKE USE OF HASHTAGS “#” :

Hashtags are labels that help make a post easily accessible when being searched for. It helps to categorize it. They are written with the # symbol.

It’s not just about filling your posts up with hashtags, you should also try to source for the right ones. I personally advice using small hashtags I.e those which have between 50,000–1,000,000 posts beneath them because your post won’t get lost here. Also, use hashtags that correspond with what you are putting out.

MAKE YOUR BIO AS CONCISE AS POSSIBLE:

Your Bio is a little introduction of yourself or your brand. You have to make it as short as possible, yet make sure that it covers all your necessary areas.

REMEMBER TO DROP YPUR CONTACT INFORMATION:

If people want to reach out to you, it should be easy for them that’s why I advice putting up at least an email. A phone number can work too but email is more professional.

KEEP YOUR PAGE ACTIVE:

Like others posts, comment and interact. You don’t want the social media thinking you are a robot. Also, when you engage on others posts, you increase the chances of getting engagements on yours.

There are various ways to make money on social media from being an influencer to affiliate marketing, to selling your own products and services or even managing social media accounts for various brands. But first, you need to grow your account and make it as presentable as possible.

Remember, your account is a little portfolio for you so put in your best. Connections can also be made on social media, the more reason you should get out there.

The growth of your account isn’t going to happen instantly and you might be tempted to get some “inorganic” followers, but believe me, if you do all this consistently, with time, you would certainly grow.
