It is now a trend for celebrities, at home and abroad, to release their personal perfume brand.

This is nothing new in Hollywood, as it was a huge fad back in the 90s and early 2000s.

One might debate that the celebrity perfumes ‘craze’ served as the template for the debut of celebrity makeup and skin-care brands.

In the Nigerian celebrity beauty market, Toke Makinwa has taken it upon her shoulders to spearhead the fragrance market.

Toke is no stranger to the fashion and beauty scene, having previously launched her well-known fashion brand, TM-Luxury, and a skincare line, Glow by TM.

Now though, the fashion icon, and TV personality has dabbled into perfumery with the launch of her beauty line: Toke Makinwa Beauty.

The beauty line debuted quite recently, on 28th April, with Toke releasing the PR shots from her first fragrance collection: “Dive” and “Vogue” on that day and “Intense” a week later.

The trio fragrances is unisex which means that they can be worn by both men and women.

Going by what the serial entrepreneur shared on both her official and beauty line’s Instagram page, the fragrances come in a 100ml perfume bottle and were specifically curated for the consumers sensory delight.

DIVE

The first fragrance “Dive” has been touted as a floral perfume with just the hint of spice. Its opening notes consists of pink pepper, black currant and grapefruit; its heart notes are made of rose, jasmine, asparagus and pineapple and its closing notes consists of cedar, vanilla, amber and patchouli.

According to the Toke Makinwa Beauty Instagram page, the “Dive” fragrance is your go-to everyday scent.

VOGUE

The second fragrance, “Vogue” promises a sensual/seductive smell. According to its scent description posted on Instagram, the Extrait de Parfum is a blend of amber, saffron and woody scents.

Its opening notes were the sweet smell of jasmine blossoms with its base notes comprising the sensual rush of woody, musk and amber scents.

INTENSE

The “Intense” fragrance is similar to “Vogue”’s in that it has sensual notes in it.

This product was unveiled on Instagram, days after the introduction of the first two fragrances to the public. This fragrance is also an Extrait de Parfum that imbues the lovely scents of blackcurrant, clove and raspberry at its centre. Its top notes consists of a cinnamon and elegant floral smell while its base note is made up of frankincense and sandalwood.

With the launch of her fragrances, only time will tell on what next Toke will set her eyes on. One thing is for sure though, Toke is a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian beauty scene.

So far, based on the unique compositions listed for each of the fragrances, which would you purchase if you could?
